About Us

The Bethlehem College Cricket Club was set up in 2009 to develop and grow cricket at all levels within Bethlehem College.

The Clubs mission is:

"To provide all students at Bethlehem College the opportunity to play cricket for the club through a Cricket development program. This will encourage students, teachers and parents to become confident and active within the club and allow students to reach their potential, with full enjoyment of the sport. This cricket club shall aim to honour God in the way BC teams play cricket".

The Club has the following priorities:

  • To provide vision, innovation, leadership and support to cricket at Junior, Intermediate and Secondary School levels.
  • To stimulate the growth of the game, respecting the traditional forms of cricket and embracing alternative formats of the game.
  • To work with Western BOP Junior Cricket, ND Cricket and NZ Cricket in a constructive manner, in order to raise the profile of cricket within the school, providing opportunities for all pupils to experience cricket.
  • To foster a culture of excellence and accountability throughout Cricket at Bethlehem College.

The Cricket Club has teams in the Western Bay of Plenty Primary, Intermediate and College divisions. The Club employs a fultime Cricket Coach who carries out all training sessions throughtout the season. Parents help with managing the teams on match days (Saturday AM for Primary & Intermediate teams & PM for College teams). We also offer additional coaching programmes during selected school holiday periods.

We currently have the following teams playing in the WBOPCA Competitions:

    • Six Primary teams (Year 1 - 6)
    • Two Intermediate teams (Year 7 - 8)
    • Two College teams (Year 9 - 13)

Cricket has been a successful sport in Bethlehem College with the 1st X1 having won the WBOP College competition a number of times and a number of the other teams have also recorded high degrees of success. A number of Bethlehem College players have represented Tauranga, WBOP and Coastlands in cricket.

The Cricket Club welcomes all new players to cricket and is keen to develop girls cricket also. The Club is run by parent volunteers and welcomes new parents to join the cricket club.
